5 Tips on How to Live a Balanced Life (Part II - Deeper Dive)

by Punnama Machin

From an ordinary woman with over 15 years of real practice and execution from Asian’s ancient secrets to Western’s superfoods to self-care

We are an advocate for Living a Balanced Life, not because it sounds sophisticated but we learned it the hard way. So, this is not an "easy 9-step morning routine" to follow but only what I learned, implemented, and witnessed the results in my life at a deeper level than a simple morning routine.

If an ordinary woman like me can achieve it, so can you! 🙌🏼

Tips on How to Live a Balanced Life

Some routines we are about to share are long-term habits that we have been doing every day for the past 10+ years, while some are new habits that we recently had the time to adopt but have been doing long enough to feel the results. Some are easy and can be started right away, some may need some courage to get started.

We hope at the end of the day, you pick some and implement them, starting with small changes and adding them up. With a compound effect, they will create amazing results that transform how you show up every day in your professional and personal life, even in your sweatsuit or pajamas.

Now, let us dive in and get one step closer to your amazing results:

1. FIGURE OUT YOUR LIFE PURPOSE & LIVE INTENTIONALLY EVERYDAY

Everyone wants to live their best life possible. Yet most of us do not spend effort and time learning how to accomplish it.

Instead, we live every day unmindfully even when we are already struggling. It is our comfort zone and we convince ourselves “I will survive just like last time”.

Take a moment, close your eyes, and determine your most outlandish and biggest dream.

This is called Manifesting or Visualization.

It is a powerful practice that will set you apart from “I wish” to “I will become”. Check out Manifestation Babe. They have an amazing framework that will guide you in taking action.

For some of you that do not have a clear “I wish” list, take a step back and learn about yourself, learn how you can redesign your life so that it is more meaningful and intentional.

One of the frameworks that millions of people, including me, resonate with is Ikigai, the Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life

5 Tips on How to Live a Balanced Life (Part II - Deeper Dive) | My Nutrient Hub

Ikigai is a book that reveals secrets of how people from the Blue Zone spend their life, and why it matters. Blue Zone is known as 5 areas where people live longer than the rest of the world. Sounds like heaven on earth to me!

The book inspires you to look at how you could live your life differently and contains techniques to not only enhance your longevity, but live a meaningful life.

It also contains a framework for you to figure out your version of a purpose-driven life, which I believe is an inner drive that in many cases is a more powerful reason for being.

This purpose may change over time, but that is ok! We all need a purpose to get us out of bed in the morning.

With a clear purpose and strong belief that you will become whoever you decided to be, you will feel motivated and alive every day in chasing your goals while maintaining a balanced life.

PRO TIP:

If our #1 Tip seems time-consuming to you, do not let it overwhelm you. Choose a few from below tips and start with that, you can always come back to this #1 Tip (P.S. it is here on top of the list for a reason 😊)

2. STEP UP YOUR GAME BY KEEPING YOURSELF ON TRACK

Are you doing the things that move you closer to your goals? If you do not know the answer, it is time for you to keep yourself on track. Set your daily, weekly, monthly, annual goal - whichever time frame suits your lifestyle - and record your progress using a journal, productivity or project management apps.

PRO TIP:

1. We love using Eisenhower Matrix for a big picture planning. It guides you in prioritizing your tasks using available resources and delegate or even remove the tasks so you would not fall into “What is important is seldom urgent, and what is urgent is seldom important” principle, a famous quote from Eisenhower himself.

2. We cannot live without Asana. It is easy to use and very comprehensive even with a free plan. We use it from public project management with the team, to private daily to-do tasks.

3. Evernote is our BFF. Save everything from bulb light ideas, grocery shopping list, recipes, and web pages, to important emails. It is super easy to save, search, and synchronize across devices, plus it comes with templates to suit your usage.

The key thing when using these tools is to appreciate your progress and reflect what you could have done better to be aligned with your goals.

3. STRENGTHEN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE

Another advice we could give is for you to surround yourself with the right people to help you achieve your goals.

Get a support network virtually or physically. Having encouragement from positive like-minded people is a powerful way to motivate yourself or share your pain when things get tough.

Jim Rohn once famously stated, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”.

In this digital era, you can find them in Facebook groups, membership programs, community applications, etc. Choosing the right communities will comfort your journey and help steer you on the right path.

The right circle of friends and loved ones is a great source of excitement and encouragement, challenging you to be a better version of yourself. They will be on your side when you need help, comforting you in tough times.

Remember: All people need companionship and positive interaction with others - even the most introverted ones! That is why you need to strengthen your relationship with them. Let them know that you are thinking about them and ask them to make plans to hang out sometime. Do not get so wrapped up at work and forget that there are people who miss and care about you.

4. HELP OTHERS

2020 to 2021 has changed our way of living, working, and everything else completely.

Help and support have never been widely needed in so many ways.

Apart from making other people’s situation better, leaving you fulfilled and happy, it lifts your spirit up and shows you that helpful resources are abundant. Believe me, your act of kindness will go a long way.

You can provide help in your small, personal ways where you can assist in the live of others without compromising your own convenience.

You can assist others by volunteering at homeless shelters around your area, simply saying thank you to people who help you at grocery stores, donating a few bucks to a local charity, or giving a few minutes of your time to comfort a distressed friend or family member.

5. EMBRACE A LIFE-LONG LEARNING MINDSET

My first exposure to this concept was back when we started dealing with technology disruption across industries which caused a significant number of obsolete jobs in the workplace.

For organizations, it means they have to prepare their workforce to respond to changes in the business. At a personal level, it means adapting in order to live a fulfilling life throughout any stages of your life. One must be willing to learn new knowledge and adopt new skills.

It is obvious that we are living in a fast-paced environment with an abundant flow of information, knowledge, and skills.

With this mindset, you can potentially redesign your life, build a new career, or become anything even when you are in your 40s, 50s or 60s. The most important skill we all need is to unlearn what you know and relearn new things.

Becoming a life-long learner also make us more socially and professionally engaging. Exercising your brain by learning new things can also reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's.

So, what are you planning to learn next?
